U.S. Secretary of Education Names Nerinx Hall a 2024 U.S. Department of Education Green Ribbon School Awardee

Webster Groves, MO — 4/26/2024 — Nerinx Hall has been selected as a 2024 U.S. Department of Education Green Ribbon School (ED-GRS), marking a significant milestone in the institution's commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship.

Today, the U.S. Department of Education unveiled the 2024 ED-GRS recipients list, among which Nerinx Hall proudly stands as the first Catholic all-girls school in Missouri to achieve this esteemed recognition. Established in 2012, the ED-GRS program serves as both a federal recognition award and a platform for promoting sustainable practices in schools nationwide.

Nerinx Hall was honored for its efforts to minimize environmental impact and costs, enhance health and wellness initiatives, and deliver comprehensive sustainability education to its students. The school's dedication to fostering environmentally responsible practices aligns seamlessly with its core values and educational mission.

Reflecting on this accolade, Dr. Molly Grumich, Principal of Nerinx Hall, expressed pride in the school's achievement: "Our selection as a 2024 U.S. Department of Education Green Ribbon School is a testament to Nerinx Hall's unwavering commitment to sustainability and holistic education. Rooted in the traditions of the Sisters of Loretto, our institution prioritizes the empowerment of young women who are deeply engaged with their communities and the world around them. This recognition underscores our ongoing efforts to instill in our students a profound sense of environmental responsibility and stewardship."

As a 2024 U.S. Department of Education Green Ribbon School, Nerinx Hall, alongside other distinguished honorees, has been invited to participate in a ceremony in Washington, D.C., during the week of July 8. At the event, the school will be presented with a sustainable plaque commemorating its outstanding achievement in sustainability and environmental education.
