Beverly Hopkins Poetry Contest 2022 Winners

Meg Handley '23 and Delaney Carey '23 placed in the top 7 for St. Louis Poetry Center's Beverly Hopkins Poetry Contest. The contest was judged by Srikanth Reddy, a professor of English and creative writing at the University of Chicago and editor for Phoenix Poets book series at the University of Chicago Press.

Meg Handley won third place for her poem Threadwork. "The first time I read this beautiful poem, I didn’t even realize it was a sonnet; I was so swept up in the intimacy of its opening address to the reader that I only recognized the poem’s meticulous formal construction in retrospect," said Srikanth Reddy after reading Meg's poem.

Delaney Carey won first place honorable mention for her poem To Pin A Bouncy-Ball Down.

Way to go, Markers!
