Mackenzie Twomey '23

Mackenzie was awarded the Gold Award by the Girls Scouts of Eastern Missouri for raising awareness for female representation in instrumental music. She organized a three-part speaker series for her peers to help understand the music industry and inspire others to pursue the arts. Two women from the St. Louis Symphony and one woman from the International Women in Brass shared their stories of being female musicians in a male-dominated industry and how to be leaders and role models in the arts. Mackenzie continues to work with our Nerinx Art Council to promote arts, provide more creative opportunities, recognize students, and give a voice to the art department.

Way to help empower others, Mackenzie!

Hannah Whatley-Blaine '24

Congratulations to Hannah Whatley-Blaine for being named Miss Branson's Outstanding Teen for 2022! Over the summer, Hannah competed in Miss Missouri's Outstanding Teen Scholarship Pageant. During the pageant, she also received the style award and the preliminary evening gown and onstage question award – which awarded her $1,400 in scholarships.

The Miss Missouri Scholarship Organization is one of the largest providers of scholarships to young women in the state. This year, the organization will award $85,000 in scholarships between the Miss and Outstanding Teen programs.

Great job, Hannah!
