Marker Spotlight: Isabella Nguyen '24

We're continuing our celebration of Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month with a spotlight on Isabella Nguyen '24!

Isabella's family immigrated to America from Vietnam after their families fought in the war. She said that celebrating AAPI month is important to her because of the ways it shows representation of the various AAPI cultures and brings forth solidarity with those impacted by cultural appropriation and the spike of hate crimes.

"Vietnamese culture is very prominent for our traditional clothing, food, and festivities," she added.

As a student at Nerinx, Isabella is involved in variety of ways. She is part of the House of Studies Honors Program, serves as a Student Ambassador, is secretary of the Diversity Club, and was recently chosen to be part of the FOCUS St. Louis YLSL Leadership Program next year. What's more — you can often find Isabella volunteering with a local Buddhist temple, where she serves as a lead choreographer and dancer for festival dances.
