Crystal Ulett '96

"I left Nerinx with the confidence needed to handle tough situations with tact and grace. This network of empowered women has shaped my life during every season," said Crystal Ulett, Ph.D, ‘96. Now, the vice president of corporate reputation at FleishmanHillard is paying it forward by serving on the Diversity Alumni Board at Nerinx Hall.

Crystal's career path is certainly an embodiment of the empowered woman. Before helping lead the corporate reputation department of one of the largest global communications agencies in the world, Crystal served as a former college professor of public relations, crisis communication, and media research. Shel also spent more than 15 years providing communication services to elected officials and the local governments of the City of Chicago and St. Louis County. She has experience developing communication strategy and managing community outreach, policy, and governmental relationships.

According to Crystal, much of her support comes from her Nerinx community. She noted that the relationships she forged at Nerinx are a part of who she is and what makes her successful.

"Weekly, you will find me scrolling through through hundreds of text messages from my six closest Nerinx besties, and I couldn’t imagine doing life without them!" she said.

Outside of work, Crystal assumes the roles of "chauffeur and chief of snack distribution" for her three children: Madison (7), Chase (5), and Caleb (4). She enjoys reading, cooking shows (not cooking), and online shopping. Crystal, along with her husband Tom, three children, and their wild rescue pup Roxie, live in Bel-Nor.
