The purpose of the Parent Network of Catholic High Schools in St. Louis is to help parents with the challenges of raising Catholic teens in today's world. Parent Network offers programs to inform and educate parents about current social issues and pressures children face during their adolescent years.
As parents, we share the same Roman Catholic values. We strive to keep ourselves informed. We have confidence in our ability, with God's grace, to make a difference.
Parent Network sponsors two annual presentations where well-respected local and national speakers address topics of concern to parents of teenagers, and offers a Blessing Mass. The organization is committed to providing support to parents and sharing ideas via these presentations, the Resource Booklet, and networking with one another.
The first annual prevention will be at St. Joseph's Academy on September 15 at 7 pm.
St. Joseph’s Academy will host two speakers: Julia Smith, professor at Webster University, and Sister Marysia, Director of the Office of Consecrated Life with the Archdiocese of St. Louis. They will speak on “The Psychological Impact and Consequences of Social Media.” In this presentation Professor Smith and Sister Marysia will discuss how cell phones and video games are rewiring your teen’s brain and what parents can do to guide your child toward healthy intellectual, emotion and spiritual development.
